Around the World in 80 Hats
Gallery session and optional art workshop
Travel around the world to find different headwear worn by the diverse people depicted in Topolski’s murals of Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Discover the similarities and differences between what people wear in other places, using headwear to find out about other aspects of peoples’ lives. In this interactive session, students will also use maps to look at what places are like and where they are located.
Taking inspiration from the first session, students will design and make a piece of headwear in the optional workshop, making studies and selecting appropriate materials in order to develop their ideas into three dimensional forms.
